Correspondence of John Cook Wyllie, Ezra Pound and James J. Kilpatrick, 1937, 1958.

The collection contains a photograph of a letter from Wyllie to Pound, 1937 December 1, questioning Pound's assertion that the public should read Jefferson for his economic views; Pound's colorful reply [1937] December 13 calling Wyllie a fool, asserting that Jefferson, Jackson and Van Buren were better economists than Carter Glass and F.D.R., and calling on Wyllie to justify why works by Lenin, Stalin, and Trotsky are more readily available than editions of John Adams, Jefferson and Van Buren. The collection also contains a note from Pound to J.J. Kilpatrick, 1958 November 12, denouncing Wyllie; a letter from Kilpatrick to Wyllie, 1958 November 17, enclosing Pound's note; and Wyllie's reply thanking Kilpatrick, 1958 November 18. The series concludes with a carbon of Kilpatrick's letter to Pound, 1958 November 19, referring to the latter's correspondence with Wyllie and regretting that he can not use Pound's comments on the elections of 1958 in the Richmond News-Leader as his readers prefer "Gunsmoke" to difficult prose; and an undated carbon of Wyllie's humorous response to Kilpatrick's letter, n.d.
